Bodegas Ateca Atteca 2007

On the label this wine is just “Atteca” and it is a beautiful gray and darker gray slightly metallic label. So let’s get down to some stats:

Grape: Garnacha (also known as Grenache, this just happens to be a Spanish wine and that is the spanish spelling of Grenache)

Price: 12.99$

Ease of locating: Should be easy. I bought this at Costco.

So last night was leftover chili evening, so again something that could hold up well to chili was required. This is the second time I had this wine– I had clearly liked it enough to buy it again. The Atteca is a fairly classic, and not overly fussy, grenache. Medium bodied it starts out with dark fruits: blackberry, black cherries, even a blueberry note. It quickly progresses into other classic grenache notes: a smoky note, a slightly mineral note and then finishes with plenty of spice and a hint of dark chocolate. Most of all it had the silkiness that I have come to expect from one of my top 3 grape varietals. Delicious.

Oh and one more thing: it has an amazing deep almost purple color– not only is it delicious, it is pretty too!

This is a wine that I would highly recommend!
