Markham update from winemaker Kim Nicholls

The beginning of September provided lots of activity here at Markham vineyards. With almost 25% of harvest already completed, all the Sauvignon Blanc arrived at the winery in beautiful condition. The iridescent green berries were carefully processed to yield their delicate juices. Sauvignon Blanc flavors range from honeysuckle to citrus zest and most of the tanks have begun to slowly ferment under cool temperatures.

An odd dry lightning weather event passed over Napa Valley this past weekend. While it was extraordinarily spectacular to view in the early morning hours, the disturbance provided little (if any) measurable rainfall on our vineyards.

Early ripening Yountville Merlot blocks will also make their appearance into the winery as temperatures return to the seasonal towards the end of coming week.
